A New Dog Blog
Welcome to the Well Behaved Dogs blog posts.
As a dog behaviourist, I’m often asked questions about dog ownership during training sessions, or something occurs to me while I’m working with dogs and their owners. Often, while meeting a dog, or seeing some dogs interact or being triggered in some way, something will occur to me that I think might be of interest to a wider audience. Things like: How do I choose the right dog? What can I expect if I rescue a dog? Has the standard of breeding gone down during the two years of Covid? Sometimes I stumble across a book or a podcast that other people who are into dogs might enjoy. I want to use this blog to post my thoughts on things like these. I hope you find them useful.

I’ve had a few people asking me about crate training recently. The question always goes along the lines of, “We tried putting food in the crate to make it a positive experience but when left alone the dog cried / paws at the door / barks. We heard we should let them cry it out, is that right?” – How can we make this a good experience?
Read MoreWhy Does My Dog Eat My House? Destruction And How To Stop It
It’s no secret that dogs can be destructive. You get home from work to find the legs have been chewed off your coffee table.
