I work with any sort of dog with any sort of behaviour. Well Behaved Dogs champions the tough cases, the difficult dogs. I won’t tell you to medicate your dog or to get it neutered. We’ll talk through why your dog is doing what it’s doing and work out a practical solution. Then as weeks and months go by, I want to keep in contact to see how you’re getting on and make sure everything is working out.

We provide a range of services designed to be as flexible as possible in helping you cope with the issues you are facing. The truth is that for most behavioural issues, the solution is not a quick fix or ‘magic bullet’. In the first instance, it is important to understand what is causing the behaviour and then devise a plan to address this. To do this, we need to get to know your dog – and this usually means visiting you at your home. From there, we work with you to draw up a plan which will work best for you and your dog.

Below we give more detail about the way we do this; if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss these further.

Home Visits

Most courses will start with at least one home visit. It is important that we start by working with you and your dog in the familiar context of its own territory – your home. In a typical session we might spend an hour talking this through and begin working with the dog, then we might go for a walk. These sessions tend to be quite free-form; we’ll be led by what the dog needs and what you are hoping to achieve.

Individual Sessions

Individual Behaviour Sessions can take place either at our facility or somewhere nearer to you – or more relevant to the issue we are dealing with. The advantage of these sessions is that you get 100% of our attention, and each session can be constructed specifically around you and your dog’s needs.

Behaviour Clinics

Our Behaviour Clinics are an excellent way of working on certain problem behaviours together with other dogs and their owners. Taking place at our New Forest facility, these sessions are designed to bring together those dogs which we feel will benefit from working as a group. This allows people to gather in a safe non-judgemental environment where they can practice techniques to change their dog’s behaviour. I’ll pass from one owner to the next to help and guide where appropriate.

Expert Advice

On occasion, we are requested to give advice to owners of dogs that have bitten and where the Police or local authority dog warden have had to be involved. In these cases, we’re happy to help people put plans in place which help with the dog’s behaviour. We can also advise on practical solutions based on how you might expect a dog to behave in certain situations so the owner can mitigate against an incident recurring.
