Residential Dog Training
We know that difficult dogs can make it hard to go on holiday because of the problems finding a suitable pet sitter. Or perhaps you prefer to travel with your dog. We offer dog-friendly holidays in a choice of accommodation. As well as somewhere to stay with your canine companion, I can put together a training package to help you during your stay at our farm. We have a training field and other dog training facilities on site, and can integrate one-on-one training sessions to fit perfectly with your holiday plans.
The Shepherd’s Hut
The shepherd’s hut is a beautiful and cozy space. One of the largest of its kind, it was locally hand crafted using the finest materials during summer of 2021. Its position boasts lovely views, peace & tranquillity, overlooking hundreds of acres of green pasture. Your stay comes complete with luxury king size bed, dining area, sofa, kitchen, flushing toilet & shower with bedding, towels/linen all provided for you. Fast Wifi & smart TV help you stay in touch while enjoying your countryside escape.
The Cottage
The private cottage is a beautiful spacious single story space which boasts stunning views, peace & tranquillity. The suite is newly renovated with kitchen, bathroom and WC; bedding, towels and linen are all provided for you. The well-equipped kitchen has a toaster, kettle, Oven/Hob, fridge/freezer, crockery, cutlery & dishwasher. This idyllic setting is perfect for couples enjoying our beautiful countryside.
The Local Area
We are just minutes’ drive from Dartmoor National Park, with endless walks and reservoirs to visit, many Tors to climb, and which boasts some of the best views in the UK.
Lopwell Dam is 2.5 miles away, which forms part of the Tavy river and is also excellent for paddle boarding.
Cornwall is only 15 minutes drive away.
The thriving market town of Tavistock is less than 15 minutes’ drive and Plymouth town center is only 25 minutes away.
Some of the UK’s most lovely beaches can be reached in 35 minutes.
We are situated at the top of Milton Combe with an excellent country pub a short walk away: ‘The Who’d Have Thought It’ Inn is a 15th Century pub which serves wonderful food and offers the perfect place to relax in the garden to the sound of the babbling brook or to warm yourself by the log fires in the colder months. There is a conveniently positioned Bus Stop right outside to take you into town should you wish.
A National Trust treasure: Buckland Abbey & Garden Estate, home of Sir Francis Drake is a stone’s throw away from the pub and only 1 mile from us.
Many more short adventures can be had when you venture into Dartmoor National Park – again, only a few minutes from where you will be staying, and a perfect complement to your residential dog training.
Guests will also benefit from being able to visit beautiful beaches and sites in both Devon and Cornwall within 35 minutes’ drive.
